Identity Politics is a Revenge-Driven Tragedy That Will Make the Whole World Blind

Apr 8, 2019

“But I’m innocent!” cried the man. “I’m not a hater! I’m not a bigot. I haven’t hurt anyone!”

“Not true,” said the official. “You’re classified as harmful.”

He looked at his clipboard. “Yes, it says it right here. All the boxes are checked. The worst of the worst. Heterosexual. White. Christian. American. Conservative. Male. — Scum.”

He motioned toward a door. “Go on now. You’ve been parsed and defined. That’s the door for you. Leave your clothes on the table. You won’t need them.”

The guard ignored the slam of the door and the acrid smell of the room beyond. Bored, he glanced at the line in front of him.

“Next!”

Some might respond to this scenario and say, “So? It’s all true. The racist, fascist, misogynist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, hateful bigot was guilty as charged. Irredeemably. No loss at all. Next!”

Some might respond and say, “Well, we don’t have to kill them. Reeducation camps are a better option. Besides, slave labor will help the economy.”

Some might respond and say, “No, camps aren’t necessary for most of them. Just lower their social credit scores to zero and take away all of their power and position. Let them live as common laborers with no social privileges at all. We just have to stop them from influencing society ever again.”

Every one of these responses is realistic and could happen in America and the West much sooner than anyone might expect.

If you think they can’t happen, read the histories of totalitarian countries and empires, including countries today that are punishing citizens in a very similar manner. Current examples include North Korea, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the tiny country of Brunei which recently called for the stoning to death of gays.

If you think it can’t happen in America and the West, consider the reality that countries are simply made up of people. When enough people relinquish the principles of freedom, or when a country is dominated by totalitarian forces, freedom dies. Sometimes freedom is eliminated slowly, attacked by what I call creeping totalitarianism.

In 2016, actor Will Smith suggested that the views of Trump supporters should be “cleansed” from America, as reported by FoxNews in the segment: “Will Smith: ‘Cleanse’ America of Trump supporters.

Bit by bit, starting with restrictions on free speech, totalitarianism is eating away at Western freedoms. A 2017 Breitbart.com article titled “British Police Arrest At Least 3,395 People for ‘Offensive’ Online Comments in One Year” stated:

Figures obtained by The Times through the Freedom of Information Act reveal that 3,395 people across 29 forces were arrested last [year] under section 127 of the Communications Act 2003, which makes it illegal to intentionally “cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another”, in 2016.

The true figure is likely to be significantly higher, as thirteen police forces refused to provide the requested information and two did not provide usable data.

The UK policy on offensive speech is especially disturbing because it is one-sided. As the Breitbart article reports, the police ignored offensive speech that was anti-Semitic or anti-white.

You might be thinking, “I’m not a straight, white, conservative, Christian, American male, so what do I care?”

This is why you should care: No one is safe under totalitarianism.

Our Bill of Rights appears to be the last thing officials think about.

It is time we send our governor this message: "Maine needs to get back to work, we understand that this disease is contagious, and we are responsibly following the guidelines."

Can You Help Us Reach 1,900+ Republican Voters in Gray?
A Republican in Gray recently told me that she and her husband have been Gray residents for twenty years, but had NO IDEA that a "Gray Republican Committee" existed. Well... we have to fix that!

We've been searching for cost-effective ways to let the 1,900+ Republican voters in Gray know that we exist and then inspire them to work with us to save America and Freedom.
Gov. Mills: Open Maine Now!
Gov. Janet Mills of Maine needs to dial back the abnormal fear of COVID-19. A MUCH bigger problem is the collapse of the Maine economy if she continues her Draconian Shutdown. The op/ed below is from Republican State Senator Rich Cebra.
April 16 Letter to the Governor from Maine's Joint Republican Caucus 129th Legislature
On April 16, legislative Republicans submitted a letter to the Governor voicing their own concerns along with questions from their constituents. The original intent was to allow the Governor to respond, rather than communicate through press releases.

News organizations have subsequently obtained the letter with plans to report on it. Therefore, we are making it available, unfiltered, for the public to see.
News from the Chair, Peter Falkenberg Brown
The shutdown seems to have saved many lives, which is a good thing, but as many people have said, we don't want the cure to be worse than the disease. Here's hoping that Gov. Mills will ease things open, in a common sense fashion: both businesses and recreational venues. People need to be able to sit in the sun and look at the ocean, in my opinion. It heals the soul and helps the body.
Maine GOP Launches People's Veto To Repeal Ranked Choice Voting
Dr. Demi Kouzounas issued the following statement today regarding her filing for a People's Veto to L.D. 1083 to Repeal Ranked Choice Voting in Maine's Presidential Elections:

"One person, one vote is a bedrock American principle. Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is a direct violation of that principle and threatens the rights of all Mainers and delegitimatizes our election process," said Dr. Kouzounas.

The people's veto effort will be managed by the Maine Republican Party's new ballot question committee, led by Chair Kouzounas.
