The Maine Heritage Policy Center Invites YOU to the "Guns & Issues" Event

May 4, 2019

Conservative activists across the state are gathering on Saturday, May 11 at Lake Region High School for a "Guns & Issues" event to keep activists up to date on the legislature's activity this session.

Maine Policy's director of civic engagement Mike Quatrano and director of communications Jacob Posik have been invited to speak about grassroots advocacy and methods for activating the public to take action. Grassroots advocacy is when the public contacts their elected officials at the local, state or federal level regarding a certain issue.

Quatrano and Posik will speak to the effectiveness of grassroots advocacy this legislative session and arm attendees with the information they need to make an impact in Augusta. They will also show attendees how a bill moves through the legislative process and at which stages the public can weigh in to have the greatest influence on lawmakers.

Who: Maine Policy's Mike Quatrano and Jacob Posik

What: Guns & Issues

When:   Saturday, May 11 - 1pm to 3pm

Where: Lake Region High School - Naples, ME

Why: To teach activists how they can influence the legislative process

All members of the public are welcome to attend. Bruce Ashmore will also speak about gun issues and Second Amendment rights.

For questions about the event, email Elaine Heuiser at deheuiser@yahoo.com.

We hope to see you on Saturday the 11th in Naples.

Sincerely,

Your friends at The Maine Heritage Policy Center

States around the country have begun protesting these lengthy unconstitutional lockdowns - Kentucky, Ohio, N. Carolina, Michigan, Virginia, ... Maine!

Our Bill of Rights appears to be the last thing officials think about.

It is time we send our governor this message: "Maine needs to get back to work, we understand that this disease is contagious, and we are responsibly following the guidelines."

Can You Help Us Reach 1,900+ Republican Voters in Gray?
A Republican in Gray recently told me that she and her husband have been Gray residents for twenty years, but had NO IDEA that a "Gray Republican Committee" existed. Well... we have to fix that!

We've been searching for cost-effective ways to let the 1,900+ Republican voters in Gray know that we exist and then inspire them to work with us to save America and Freedom.
Gov. Mills: Open Maine Now!
Gov. Janet Mills of Maine needs to dial back the abnormal fear of COVID-19. A MUCH bigger problem is the collapse of the Maine economy if she continues her Draconian Shutdown. The op/ed below is from Republican State Senator Rich Cebra.
April 16 Letter to the Governor from Maine's Joint Republican Caucus 129th Legislature
On April 16, legislative Republicans submitted a letter to the Governor voicing their own concerns along with questions from their constituents. The original intent was to allow the Governor to respond, rather than communicate through press releases.

News organizations have subsequently obtained the letter with plans to report on it. Therefore, we are making it available, unfiltered, for the public to see.
News from the Chair, Peter Falkenberg Brown
The shutdown seems to have saved many lives, which is a good thing, but as many people have said, we don't want the cure to be worse than the disease. Here's hoping that Gov. Mills will ease things open, in a common sense fashion: both businesses and recreational venues. People need to be able to sit in the sun and look at the ocean, in my opinion. It heals the soul and helps the body.
Maine GOP Launches People's Veto To Repeal Ranked Choice Voting
Dr. Demi Kouzounas issued the following statement today regarding her filing for a People's Veto to L.D. 1083 to Repeal Ranked Choice Voting in Maine's Presidential Elections:

"One person, one vote is a bedrock American principle. Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is a direct violation of that principle and threatens the rights of all Mainers and delegitimatizes our election process," said Dr. Kouzounas.

The people's veto effort will be managed by the Maine Republican Party's new ballot question committee, led by Chair Kouzounas.
